Can I put wallpaper on textured walls?
It depends. Everyone has a different level of texture on their walls! We ALWAYS recommend ordering wallpaper samples to test on your walls in an inconspicuous spot. Pre-pasted tends to do better on textured walls, especially a multidimensional pattern such as Don’t Forget, Slow Dance, Brush Strokes, Rainforest, etc.
What supplies do I need to hang wallpaper?
You might be surprised to find that hanging wallpaper requires very few tools, which is one of the reasons why we love it so much! For all of the wall covering options, you will need a tape measure, level, step stool/ladder, and a razor blade/box cutter (we recommend multiple brand-new blades). For the pre-pasted wallpaper, you will need a bin/tub of water and a damp cloth/sponge. For the woven, you will need wallpaper paste. Once you have those, you are ready to start hanging! We cannot wait to see what you do with the wallpaper, so make sure you send us some before and after pictures😉 !
What is the difference between pre-pasted, woven, ceiling tile and removable tile wallpaper?
Pre-pasted:
Best for homeowners who want a quality look and feel, but also love the idea of being able to switch their look often and at any time. Prepasted peels easily off of walls. If any residue is left on the wall, simply wipe it with a damp cloth.
Made on high quality smooth pre-pasted paper.
Easy to install and removable. Goes up with water. Comes down with water.
Low sheen.
Scratch resistant.
Warm water + light rub to clean.
Woven:
Best for homeowners who love a luxurious look and feel, and stick to their preferred and classic looks. Although this wallpaper looks woven, it is technically a non-woven backing, which makes it phenomenal for easier removal.
Luxurious fabric look and feel. Textured.
Matte.
Easy to install. We recommend using THIS wallpaper paste.
Meets Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements for low-VOC emitting products and is Class A fire resistant. Environmentally safe for sensitive spaces like schools, hospitals and public buildings.
Durable enough for commercial environments subject to wear and tear.
Ceiling tiles:
Best for ceilings!
Printed on premium matte polyester wall fabric. Slightly textured.
Easy to install and remove. Peel and stick.
Low sheen.
Scuff-resistant.
Clear tack wall adhesive backing.
Warm water + light rub to clean.
Do I need to do anything to prep my walls for wallpaper?
For best results, start with clean, dry walls. The walls must be painted – preferably a color that is similar to the wallpaper. For example, do not put a white wallpaper over red walls, otherwise it will have a pink tint to it. Also, you never want to put wallpaper on unfinished drywall. Lastly, make sure electrical outlets are off and remove wall fixtures as needed.
How do I know how much wallpaper to order?
All of the wallpaper is 24” wide, making it easy to calculate how much to order! We prefer easy math over here 😉.
Pre-pasted & woven wallpaper have various heights depending on your ceiling: 4’ to 10’. **We can create longer strips, but they will arrive untrimmed. Email for info. The 8’-10’ strips have an additional 3” on them for trimming at the ceiling and floor. If you have an 8’ wide wall, you will need 4 strips of wallpaper.
Ceiling tiles have fixed lengths, depending on the pattern. These strips are simply hung adjacent to each other both vertically and horizontally. We make it easy and pre-trim the wallpaper for you, which means it is ready to hang upon arrival! If you read this and still have no idea how much to order, do not worry! Simply send us an e-mail at hello@coppercornersart.com and we will help you out.
How can I remove wallpaper?
Our wallpaper is very easy to remove – simply start at a corner and pull off slowly at a 45 degree angle (for pre-pasted and woven, you may need to dampen it a smidgen with a wet cloth). Then voilà, it’s off the walls with no damage! No nightmares about taking down wallpaper here!
Another question we get often is how to remove old wallpaper from your walls that is not from Copper Corners. Since every wallpaper is made differently, we can only speak about how to remove our own wallpaper – sorry! If you are having trouble removing old wallpaper, you can find the recipe for my margaritas here, it might help you….. 😉
Can I hang wallpaper in my bathroom? What about moisture?
Bathrooms are fabulous spots for wallpaper! Except for……wet bathrooms. After showering, check to see if you have moisture dripping down your walls. If you do not see much moisture, your walls should be good to go for wallpapering! If you do have moisture dripping down your walls, we recommend testing a sample of wallpaper in that spot to see how it does.
Do I need a professional to hang it?
You do not need a professional to hang wallpaper in order to have it look absolutely STUNNING! We believe in you! If you do not believe in yourself however, you can watch a tutorial of myself hanging wallpaper in a bedroom here.
How do I figure out when the pattern is supposed to repeat?
Great question! The majority of the pattern repeats are 24”. Laundry, For the Birds, and Fools Gold are 3’ pattern repeats. Haute Couture is 4’, and Studio Grande is 5’. Regardless of the size of the pattern repeat, most strips can simply be hung one after the other and does not need to be in any particular order. *There are a few exceptions and we tell you this in the instructions ;).
How do I receive up to a $30 credit towards wallpaper if I ordered samples?
When you checkout with your selected wallpaper strips (which we can’t wait to see pictures of in your home, by the way!!) simply add a note in the comments sections of your order that you have previously ordered samples before and the previous order #. We will credit up to $30 from your previous sample purchase before your new strip order ships 😊 (shipping not included).
